About Us
Underhill was born in 1959. Rita McCullough was a visionary and a trailblazer. Underhill was the first of its kind. Rita was even invited to Tallahassee to consult with legislators when guidelines were being written for home health care.
What began as a homegrown operation, quickly outgrew the family home and moved into a brick and mortar on Edgewood Avenue. In the 80’s the business moved onto Hendricks avenue and that is where it remains today just one block further south.
Underhill is now in its third generation of family ownership and that alone; doesn’t set us apart. What makes us different is our complete understanding of what it means to be independent and to age in place and all of the key factors that contribute to accomplishing that. We, at Underhill, have been caregivers, we have been recipients of care, and we have hired and trained our staff.
What it means to age in place independently, varies for each person. We are living longer through access to medications and surgical procedures. Underhill comes in as complimentary care to medications and medical procedures. We assist with activities of daily living also known as ADLS. We provide assistance with bathing and grooming, companionship, respite for caregivers and homemaking. We provide 4-24 hours of care.

Respite Care : Underhill’s highly trained staff takes over temporarily so caregivers are provided with the time off needed to rest and recharge.
Personal Care: We help with bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, incontinent care and more.
Home Health Care: Whether it’s performing light housekeeping, grocery shopping, meal preparation, transportation or errands, we keep life running smoothly. With our help, your loved ones can live independently and safely within their home with our assistance with daily living activities.
Companionship: Underhill’s friendly staff provides comfort and support you can trust with our Sitter, Companionship or Live In services. Services are provided in home, hospital, assisted living facility or nursing and rehabilitation center.
Nutrition / Exercise Assistance: We assist with prescribed food preparation, exercise and medication reminders to build and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Transportation: Our escorts provide rides to and from medical appointments.
Chore Services: Let Underhill take charge and perform deep cleaning, organization and removal of clutter. We can even assist in packing and unpacking when your loved one is moving.
